A new tool for promoting the rights of wheelchair users

A new tool for promoting the rights of wheelchair users

People with disabilities have a tool at their disposal starting June to help them better understand their rights. This is a “Guide for the rights of people with disabilities using wheelchairs” which contains useful information on the rights of people with mobility disabilities and how they can be accessed.

An important section of the Guide deals with the right to mobility. In this section can be found information about what a suitable wheelchair means and the steps required to obtain it. People can also find out what an accessible environment means for people with reduced mobility and how they can contribute to creating a more friendly and inclusive environment if they report the accessibility problems they face in their daily lives, to the institutions that have responsibilities in this domain.

The guide on rights can be accessed electronically on the link  https://motivation.ro/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Drepturile-Persoanelor-cu-Dizabilitati.pdf

Starting June, it is offered in printed format to all participants in the mobility and health caravan organized by Motivation Romania Foundation in 15 localities in the country, within the project “Advocacy for community access for wheelchair users”.

The project “Advocacy for community access for wheelchair users” is implemented by Motivation Romania Foundation in partnership with Segoia Association, with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund Romania, a program funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through EEA Grants 2014-2021.
