For almost a year, Motivation Foundation Romania has implemented the Access to Education, Services and Community for wheelchair users, project financed through the EEA 2009 – 2014 grants, within the NGO Fund in Romania.

During this time, our multidisciplinary team, including the physical therapist, active rehabilitation trainer, nurse and social worker reached the homes of 32 persons with mobility disabilities and provided complex home care services: physical therapy and medical assistance, training for independent living skills, information and support for accessing the rights of persons with disabilities.

The group support activities offered 47 persons with mobility disabilities psychological counselling services and training regarding the use of the wheelchair. This helped improve the wheelchair users’ self- esteem and their outlook on the day to day life.

Also, 51 wheelchair users, children and adults, used the assisted transportation service and thus, they could attend the school and access various services available in the community.
