- Approximately 8100 vehicles are adapted for drivers and passengers with disabilities in Romania;
- More than 1,340 parking spaces are marked with the campaign visual;
- Partner stores in 138 cities across the country host the campaign message at dedicated parking spaces.
With the 5th anniversary of the launch, the message of the #EnAbleParking? campaign for the release of parking spaces dedicated to people with disabilities and abusively occupied reaches over 1340 dedicated parking spaces, from 138 cities in Romania.
The campaign aims to remind drivers without disabilities and future drivers that “People with disabilities don’t want dedicated parking spaces, but they need the,”, by placing the message at dedicated parking spaces in partner stores. People with disabilities are also targeted, being able to advocate for their rights themselves by displaying the message on their own cars, both in traffic and in their own dedicated parking spaces. In this way, Motivation sends the call to release parking spaces dedicated to people with disabilities in Romania.
“Through the message of the #EnAbleParking? campaign and through the partnerships we develop year after year, we want to convey to all traffic participants the fact that those parking spaces dedicated to people with disabilities are a necessity for drivers and passengers with disabilities, whether they are adults or children. Motivation encourages and promotes an active and independent lifestyle for all wheelchair users. We do the same through the #EnAbleParking? campaign. We encourage them to get out of the house, drive or go shopping alone and feel part of an inclusive society. The effort must be ours, everyone’s,” said Cristian Ispas, general director of Motivation Romania Foundation.
According to the data provided by the Romanian Car Registry, at the request of Motivation Romania Foundation, at the national level, the number of drivers and passengers with disabilities who requested adaptations of their personal vehicles reached approximately 8,100. The data refers to the period January 1, 2012 – July 31, 2022.
The #EnAbleParking? campaign was launched in November 2017 in Mega Image stores in Bucharest and Ilfov county, and later, other partners joined: Lidl Romania, IKEA Romania, Mega Mall, Sun Plaza, Drumul Taberelor Shopping Center, Shopping City Buzău, Shopping City Târgu Jiu, Coresi Shopping Resort, Felicia Shopping Center, Shopping City Suceava. Currently, the campaign prompt can be found in partner stores in 138 cities in Romania.
The idea of the campaign was outlined within the “8 hours overtime for a good cause” project of the Bucharest Community Foundation, which brought together professionals from several professional areas and NGOs for a working meeting.
