At the end of February, Motivation Romania Foundation launched the project “Advocacy for community access for wheelchair users” by organizing an online meeting attended by 40 people.
The meeting, which took place on February 24, was attended by representatives of national, county and local authorities from 15 counties in the country, partners, private companies, representatives of other non-governmental organizations with which Motivation Romania Foundation collaborates and runs projects to support and promoting the rights of people with disabilities.
During the event, two of the friends of the foundation also spoke, who shared their experience as a person with disabilities, respectively as the parent of a child using a wheelchair. The two participants discussed the challenges a person with disabilities faces, the daily effort to lead an active life, but also suggestions on how we can create a more friendly and inclusive environment in our communities.
In addition to the presentation of the project activities, the objectives proposed for the two years of implementation were highlighted, namely increasing the capacity of beneficiaries to self-represent themselves before the authorities, both by directly participating in advocacy and promoting the rights and skills of people with disabilities, as well as facilitating access to two mobile applications MotiActiv and Dashboard.
The conclusion reached at the end of the event referred to equal opportunities and the transformation of society into an inclusive one in the conditions in which civil society, private and public institutions choose to collaborate in the long term.
The project “Advocacy for community access for wheelchair users” is implemented by Motivation Romania Foundation in partnership with Segoia Association, with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund Romania, a program funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through EEA Grants 2014-2021.
