We do not leave anyone behind – support for Ukraine

Takint into consideration the conflict in Ukraine, which started a month ago, Motivation Romania Foundation and our international partners put together a series of resources, out of the desire to support refugees – adults and children with and without disabilities. Read below how our colleagues helped, under the motto We do not leave anyone behind!.

  • Our partners from the Agape Foundation in Sweden collected donations that they have distributed in Romania
On March 18-21, we organized an activity of sorting and delivery of donations consisting of clothes, hygiene products, non-perishable food (coffee, tea, sweets), toys. All these products were collected by our partners from the Agape Foundation in Sweden, as part of their initiative to support refugees from Ukraine. With the help of the volunteers from Motivation and Special Olympics Romania, these donations reached 480 refugees, out of which 320 were accommodated in Galați, Iași and Neamț, and 160 – at a school in Ukraine. Our colleagues from the Bucharest-Ilfov team sorted the products, organized them in individual and reusable packages. Representatives of the Agape Foundation in Sweden and of Motivation Romania Foundation, including colleagues from our regional teams visited nine refugee centers and donated the products to women and children in Ukraine.

  • Motivation Romania Foundation donates wheelchairs, walking frames, crutches and canes for refugees in need of such mobility equipment.
Since the beginning of March, we donated 25 wheelchairs and 40 other mobility consisting of walking frames, crutches, canes etc. Some of the equipment has reached adult and children – refugees from Ukraine who had to leave their mobility equipment behind, while others are at checkpoints in the country, available to volunteers providing support for the elderly or for people with mobility disabilities crossing the border. We can still offer this type of support in the form of mobility equipment. Requests are taken by our colleagues, according to the information in the pictures below.

  • We can provide accessible accommodation for people with reduced mobility
Our accommodation proposal is especially aimed at groups of refugees from Ukraine who include people with mobility disabilities (wheelchair users / people with reduced mobility) because we know how difficult it is to find accessible accommodation.
We can provide accommodation and meals in Ilfov County and Neamt County.
  • We participate in working meetings in the group coordinated by the World Health Organization, to provide support to refugees from Ukraine.
