Training courses on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) have been created in the project ”Look at Abilities, Forget Incapacity.” This was a unique awareness raising and training initiative whereby Motivation aimed to support Romanian professionals working in the disability field in adopting ability-centered principles in disability service provision. This approach is needed in order to change the current, predominantly medical approach, which tends to limit the inclusion opportunities of persons with disabilities. The working tools whereby we approached this objective have been created based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and on the study entitled ”International Perspectives on Spinal Cord Injuries (IPSCI).
The project was carried out by Motivation Romania Foundation and Swiss Paraplegic Research, during May 2013 – May 2015. The project was co-financed by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss contribution to the enlarged European Union.
