- Launching the project ”Partners for Independent Living Services” – Motivation Romania Foundation, in partnership with Clubul Sportiv Supernova Neamţ Association, Club Sportiv Fii Independent Association şi Club Sportiv Leii Timişoarei Association announce the launching of the project Partners for Independent Living Services. The project aims to strengthen the capacity to provide and promote early intervention services for persons with spinal cord injuries, based on improved statistical data regarding their real needs. At the moment, there are no updated statistics available regarding the total number of people with spinal cord injuries in Romania or the number of people who acquire spinal injuries annually. For this reason, there are barriers to creating and providing effective services dedicated to people with spinal cord injuries who use wheelchairs, so they can have independent lives. The existence of relevant statistics would also supports creating national and local policies in the disability field – this being one of the recommendations made by the “International Perspectives on Spinal Cord Injuries” (IPSC) report, developed by the World Health Organization in 2013. – Claudia Ungureanu, Project Manager.
The project Partners for Independent Living Services runs from January 2016 to December 2017 and is co-financed by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged European Union. The total value of the project is 272.590 CHF, out of which 204.113,20 represents the financial support provided by the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme while the contribution of Motivation Romania Foundation contribution is of 68.476,80 CHF.
