Residential services
27 of the 37 children transferred by Motivation from the institution still live in five family-like homes. These were built with the help of the IMPACT Alliance, Habitat for Humanity Romania, Vodafone Romania Foundation and other donors.
Foster care
Placing children with disabilities in foster care has had a major positive impact on their development. They have made visible progress in terms of cognition, social and emotional development, and behavior. While being a foster parent is a very demanding job, the rewards are also extraordinary.
As a result of our partnership with the Ilfov Department for Social Assistance and Child Protection, Motivation identified prospective foster parents for our children with disabilities. Before taking in the children, all foster parents were trained on ways of care for children with special needs. The children placed in foster care also received support services from Motivation, including access to the Day Center, participation in summer camps and other activities together with the children living in our group homes.
Today, most of the children we transferred from the institutions are young adults. Some returned to Motivation, where they will continue to receive ongoing care and support services needed to live fulfilling lives.
