Look at Adela. She is 11 years old and so are the two sweet dimples that appear every time she smiles. But there, in that contagious smile, are also lessons she had to learn far too early.
She was born on St. Nicholas Day, on a night of gifts. She was born without one leg, but that does not stop her from moving forward in life with determination, eager to discover everything she has to offer. Whenever she faces an obstacle, she remembers the heroes from the Jules Verne books she loves so much. She draws inspiration from them, especially when she wants to encourage her younger sister and be a good role model for her.
Adela received her first wheelchair from Motivation Romania Foundation. Now it is easier for her to play with her sister, to be present, to keep up, to gain time.
At the Motivation camp, she learned how to let her courage lead the way and how to use her abilities. She met wheelchair trainers there, who taught her how to manage on her own, just as her mother encourages her to do.
“I go out in the yard with my wheelchair and practice, but my mom is always watching me, afraid I might get hurt.”
We were able to do all this for Adela thanks to the people we had by our side, who understand that we grow stronger together.
Stand with us so that, together, we change more stories for the better.
