Mentoring, training, support and engagement to lead an independent life as a wheelchair user

Motivation Romania Foundation conducts the project Mentoring, training, support and engagement to lead an independent life as a wheelchair user, developed with the support of ING Bank Romania. The project aims to improve the mobility, independence and inclusion for 200 children and adults who use wheelchairs, with the support of customized mobility equipment, informal training for independent living, as well as technology, through which the access to resources for health and mobility is facilitated.

This way, through the project we initiate a mentoring service, through which we offer individual counselling and support from distance, for wheelchair users. The mentors are wheelchair users themselves, volunteers of Motivation Romania Foundation, who have an active life style and are willing to share their experience with others.

Also within the project, we aim to launch a mobile application to motivate and educate wheelchair users regarding ways in which they can take care of their health and increase their independence. The application will be available to be installed with no charges by the ones interested.

Among the activities scheduled for the next period, there are the training sessions for health and active life in a wheelchair, the camps for wheelchair maneuvering and inclusive sports events. More details about each activity will be available on our website and on our Facebook page.

The project Mentoring, training, support and engagement to lead an independent life as a wheelchair user takes place between December 1st 2018 to November 30th 2019 and is financed by ING Bank Romania within the program Adopt a project.
