Wheelchair users will actively promote inclusion in their communities

45 wheelchair users will receive support to promote their rights and skills and to initiate advocacy actions locally and nationally. The actions will take place within the project “Advocacy for community access for wheelchair users” implemented by Motivation Romania Foundation in partnership with Segoia Association, with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund Romania, programme funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through EEA Grants 2014-2021.

The project aims to support the social inclusion of people with disabilities by improving the mobility and health of wheelchair users. The aim of the project is to increase the capacity of beneficiaries to represent themselves to the authorities, both by directly participating in advocacy activities and promoting the rights and skills of people with disabilities, and by facilitating access to two connected mobile applications, MotiActiv and Panoul de Bord.

During the project, from January 2021 to December 2022, 15 mobility and health caravans will be organized with the participation of over 150 wheelchair users. During these events, participants will acquire useful information and skills in daily life, such as: pressure testing with the BodyTrack system to prevent bedsores, catheterization training to prevent urinary tract infections and testing mobility equipment suitable for active life, and freedom of movement.
