At the beginning of this week, Motivation Romania Foundation organized in Iasi, the first regional meeting to present the results of the project “Advocacy for community access of wheelchair users”.

The event brought together wheelchair users, participants in various project activities and representatives of non-governmental institutions and organizations from Iasi, such as the County Agency for Payments and Social Inspection (AJPIS) Iasi, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC ) Iasi, Bethany Foundation and Enable Romania Foundation.

In the first part of the meeting, the objectives of the project, the actions implemented at the national level, the tools developed within the project to promote the rights and skills of wheelchair users, as well as the success stories and the results obtained after more than two years of implementation, were presented.

In the second part of the day, together with the guests, the elements of a sustainability plan for the continuation of the activities in the project and the ways of collaboration for the involvement of the community in supporting and promoting the inclusion and rights of people with disabilities were outlined.

The “Advocacy for community access of wheelchair users” project is carried out by  Motivation Romania Foundation in partnership with Segoia Association, with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund Romania, a program financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021. The project aims to support the social inclusion of people with disabilities by improving the mobility and health of wheelchair users.
