Abilities and rights matter

Advocacy for community access for wheelchair users
Abilities matter! People with disabilities can be active and independent in the community, in an accessible environment – both architecturally and attitudinally and informally.
Inclusion is not only an important issue for people with disabilities, but for the whole community. We work better together, in diversity, sharing our skills and competencies. People with disabilities can contribute to community life and play a variety of roles.

WORKING TOGETHER FOR AN INCLUSIVE EUROPE!
Through the project Advocacy for Community Access for Wheelchair Users, we aim to help increase the capacity for wheelchair users to know their rights and access them. The areas we focus on are architectural accessibility and parking, education and health services and access to medical and assistive equipment.
The activities within the project aim, on one hand, to train the participants to access modern tools, respectively the mobile applications MotiActiv and Panoul de Bord.
MOTIACTIV
MotiActiv is a mobile application that can be downloaded for free for Android devices and is developed by Motivation Romania Foundation. The topics include tips for maintaining health, mobility equipment, emotional issues and sexuality, accessibility, lifestyle or access to rights. All of these articles are topics of interest to wheelchair users and are written by independent life trainers, physiotherapists, psychologists and other specialists. The application allows to set alarms related to water consumption and change the position in the wheelchair – simple but very important actions to prevent medical complications of wheelchair users.
PANOUL DE BORD
Panoul de Bord is a mobile application available for free for both Android and iOS devices, and developed by Segoia Association, partner in the project. With the application’s contribution, petitions with legal value can be submitted to state institutions, in simple steps.

Rights guide of people with disabilities using wheelchairs
In the two years of implementation, the project will organize 15 caravans in as many localities in the country, in order to present to participants the tools to access rights, as well as carrying out activities related to improving the mobility and health of wheelchair users.
The project is implemented by Motivation Romania Foundation in partnership with Segoia Association and benefits from a 239,827 euros grant from Active Citizens Fund Romania, programme funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021 .
